How to make printer ink last longer

Ink is like printer cartridges. After about 2 years, the quality of the color saturation decreases significantly. The printouts have faded colors, which is due to the fact that the emulsion produced during the production of the printer ink dissolves again. Unfortunately, this chemical process cannot be stopped either. Depending on the quality of the printer ink, these dissolution phenomena will occur sooner or later. The color particles separate from the carrier liquid again. This can lead to clogged nozzles or "watery" pale printouts.

The manufacturer of printer ink is not subject to any obligation to label the durability of its ink. In our shop we only sell European printer inks, which of course come with a 2-year guarantee. In addition, you receive the ink in small quantities, so the risk of loss of quality is kept very low. If you want to sell your unused toner cartridge then visit us.

In general, bottled ink has a fairly long shelf life. There's only one color that keeps causing problems, regardless of what printer it's made for, and that's YELLOW.

Yellow ink tends to fall over after a long period of storage and becomes thicker and thicker over time. In the final stages, it looks like breakfast jelly. This process is irreversible. If your ink has gelled, then IT is no longer usable. But no fear. This does not happen after a few months. It would take several years for that to happen.

Find out more about the different qualities of the original inks here. Especially in high-quality photo printing, it makes no sense to work with cheap printing ink, because it is precisely in this area that manufacturers strive for excellent printouts and these are only possible with high-quality printer ink. This is mostly pigmented ink and therefore very sensitive to clumping.

However, you should make sure that you do not use older inks. Clumping (e.g. with pigmented ink) can cause the nozzles in the print head to become clogged or even damaged. You are definitely saving in the wrong place and should buy new printer ink in good time to fill your printer cartridges in order to avoid an early defect in your print head.

Tips for refilling at a glance:

  • Pay attention to the cartridge contents!

  • It's all about the ink!

  • Ink requirements

  • Pigmented ink / non-pigmented ink (dye ink)

  • Buy ink in advance?

  • When should you refill ink?

  • How often can you refill ink?

  • Centrifuge for cleaning printer cartridges in the refill shop

  • Print head is dirty or defective!

  • Compatible cartridges

  • How do you remove ink stains?

The easiest trick is to shake the cartridge. As a result, the remaining stock is properly distributed again, the symbol for an empty cartridge goes out and the device prints again for a while. The other method is not quite as simple, but just as effective. The manufacturers program their devices in such a way that after a certain number of pages have been printed, the printer automatically sends out a warning that the cartridge is empty - even though there is still a decent amount left.

How to bypass this printer lock, which can vary greatly from model to model, can be found out with a little research on the Internet. However, it is important to remember that doing this incorrectly can damage the device. And with such damage, no manufacturer will step in - warranty certificate or not. This option should only be used by those who have at least average technical knowledge.

Whenever you need the printer most urgently, the ink cartridge is empty – many people are familiar with this problem. A lot of ink is used, especially when you print out photos next to "normal" documents. However, if the display shows the symbol for an empty printer cartridge, it is not always completely used up. With a few tricks you can still get a lot of ink out of it.
